Day 5 – The Return of Jimmy

Sleep is interrupted by acid reflux about 3am. I go into the mini fridge for water – none there, only a little coke zero so have that instead. It doesn’t shift the acid taste so this keeps me awake for a while.

Pop our heads around the balcony – Evans’s are up and we go next door to discuss plans. First up – breakfast.

My body is telling me to eat healthy. Fruit it is. Lisa has scrambled eggs. There’s a new egg man in town, he’s efficient but not as chatty as Antonio.

No Larry D today; maybe he went home.

After brekky we all go and play mini-golf. No Germans here today. Only one ball too until we find one in the undergrowth. We score hole by hole. Up until the 17th I’m winning by 2 holes but blow it and let Stu back in for a draw ☹️

Following golf we go off to the hotel beach to chill out on sunbeds. It’s a bit blowy today; I was contemplating going in the sea but it just seems a bit too cold and choppy. Some other people go in but they are not staying in long so decide it’s not worth it. A paddle will have to do.

Then coffee and cards at the beach bar. The sparrows are back so we feed them biscuits until they are too full too even want anymore.

As we walk back through the first hotel tunnel we’re talking about how this place is reminding us of The Shining today because it’s really quiet. Sue says she hates the film because it scares her. The tunnel is dark and creepy, and Stu puts on the theme tune on his phone. Sue freaks out – “STOP IT, STOP IT!” she shouts – she’s genuinely scared and Stu doesn’t take the hint and risks getting a slap after another little burst of music.

Dinner is booked for 20:00 so we decided to go to Portals Nous for a mooch. The hotel receptionist is dressed in a Harry Potter gown and witches hat as they’re gearing up for a Halloween party for kids. This means more sweets in jars for Lisa & Stu who have been dining out on that stuff all week

Portals Nous is a very fancy marina; we take a stroll and look at the boats, bars etc. We stop for a drink, 15€ a cocktail. Pornstar Martini, Pina Colada, Mojito, Bloody Mary are consumed.

Then a taxi ride to BonSol for dinner. Cabbie is a speed demon, but not as aggressive driving style as the last guy. When we enter the car he’s on a call to his Mrs. I see a couple of frowny faces from the digital speed awareness signs. True by Spandau comes on the radio and he starts whistling… badly. All out of time. Stu has been driving me up the wall with his whistling all week. The others in the back think it’s me. I can’t wait to get out.

At dinner we’re right by Carlos the piano man. Man’s got skillz. Some people are dressed up for Halloween. Lisa and Sue opt for chicken schnitzel which is a bit tough. I have roast beef, Stu the cannelloni.

Afterwards, Jimmy is back in the bar for Salsa… Although it’s basically the same deal as last night; Jimmy drifting into song whilst milking about and around his DJ area. He’s got a good voice. None of his music is Salsa.

Jimmy in action

After about 3-4 songs, Sue heads off and the rest of us go to play pool but someone is in the games room. So we settle for an epic game of (standard) rummy and then to bed.

Travel day tomorrow 😞. Adiós for now.
